Honorable Member of Parliament Anthony Mumba gave out laptops to 7 higher performer school leavers in his constituency, Kantanshi, at a luncheon held at Kalis Mine Mess today. The school leavers were from Mufulira, Ipusukilo, Kantanshi and Pamozdi Seconday Schools.
In attendance were District Education Board Representative Mr. Chrispin Chilufya, School Head Teachers for Mufulira Secondary School – Mr. Kamfuli Benard, Ipusukilo Secondary School Representative, Kantanshi Secondary School – Madam Mambwe Nfuka, Pamozdi Seconday School – Madam Mulonga Getrude, awarded school leavers’ parents, friends and families. Two Mufulira Secondary School Alumni were also present.
The awards were meant for students who attained between 6 to 9 points in the best 6 subjects. Receiving these awards were Chewe Bwalya from Pamozdzi Secondary School, Mukelebai Kwibisa from ipusukilo Secondary School, Mulenga Clement and Samba Simutowe from Kantanshi Secondary School and Phiri Salim, Bwalya Natasha and Taonga Chikunya from Mufulira Secondary School.
Mr. Kapembwa who represented Ipusukilo Secondary School thanked the Honorable Member of Parliament for the gesture adding that that was not the only time the MP was supporting Ipusukilo Secondary School.
“This Man is a great man”
Earlier, the MP helped the school in sinking a bole hole, awarding cleanliness and high achievers at Ipusukilo. He encouraged the MP to continue with his good works.
Pamozdi Secondary School head Madam Mulonga Gertrude said the MP was a good leader and that going forward she would love to see her school turn into a boarding school. She expressed her gratitude for the MP’s continued assistance to the school.
“This Man is a great man”, narrated Mr. Kamfuli Benard, Mufulira Secondary School Head teacher. He described the MP as the man with a Pastor’s heart. He told the gathering that the MP had adopted a class to maintain at Mufulira Secondary School which is also his former school. He has in addition offered to give awards to high performers at the school, a gesture he has extended to his entire Constituency. He told the MP not to stop supporting the schools. He said the MP was always compelled to give; he supported students who had difficulties with school requirements by buying them books, uniform and paid fees for them.
Mr. Chrispin Chilufya from DEBs praised parents for encouraging their children to study hard. He said the MP had the passion for the people adding that he was known everywhere for the good works even in other constituencies. He described him as a hard working MP who was always there for the community. “It is not easy to have a meal with the MP, this one is humble and is like a brother”, he added.
In his speech, the Hon. MP said the awarded children deserved the it because they represented the cream in his constituency. He told the school leavers that the award was for their hard work and their parents’ commitment. He told them that they had that chance of talking to him because of their achievements and said it was his job to help. He encouraged parents to make use of his office for the students’ loan which Government had put in place saying that it was the president’s desire for these students to have an easy loan acquisition process.
